OnePlus Open is their first foldable. Technically. Kinda… and it’s awesome.

  1. Ok, so if I sell my car, I only have to save up for a couple months and then I might be able to afford this phone. I mean, wth, amirite?

  2. Hey Marques, can I have one of your OnePlus Open phones? I really want one but cannot afford it at its price point. I’m guessing it’s not one of your like 2 day to day phones, so it would mean so much if you’d be willing to donate it 🙏

  3. Me-thinks biggest obstacle to mass adoption is the price 🤨🤨
GBP1.5K for a phone is a wee bit much 🙂🙂

  4. Folding Phones are at a point now where I am seriously considering getting one. Just the outside display being the same form factor as a normal Smartphone. Having the Larger screen if needed.

  5. On my personal experience, i used the zfold 2, zfold3, zfold4 and …. i switched to samsung s24 plus. One reason was that I didn’t use the phone unfolded that much, if i wanted to read a book i have kindle, if I wanted to work, i have a tablet, the thing is that these foldable phones were not able to replace my kindle and my tablet. The experience was always worse.
The other reason was that they are basically a brick, a heavy peace of tech in your pockets. They are so heavy and clumsy to keep around. My pockets and jackets suffered whenever I put the phone on them.

  6. 0:25 very easy answer: As soon as the phone in the opened mode has an aspect ratio, that makes sense. I dont really think a bigger but almost square 1:1 screen is useful. It’s not useful for gaming and videos also wont really be larger in the folded open state as opposed to having a regular phone in landscape mode. As soon as they make a version, which in the folded out state has an aspect ratio close to 16:9 I would consider a foldable phone. Before that, no chance

  7. Gotta be honest, I’ve had no interest whatsoever in foldable phones because A. It feels like a gimmick that’s arrived due to computing power and features in phones being maxed out, B. Everyone i know who has a foldable phone has experienced the hinges breaking in only a few months, C. It just seems unnecessary.
Really, foldable smart phones make you look like you’re trying too hard to impress.

  8. As long as foldable scratch at a level 2 with deeper grooves at level 3 coupled with the price coupled with last grn hardware, I’m not getting a foldable.

  9. I run with my phone in a waist belt in the rain, I take them into the shower with me every morning, I get dirty often, and keep my phones for 3-4 years. I don’t buy Plus or Ultras simply because the extra size is a no go. My pants run slim and the budget are already big. Samsung S24 base has been perfect. I can’t imagine going bigger, id prefer they make it slightly smaller.

  10. I get allot of dust and metal shavings in my pockets so the folding phones are a turn off. It ruins my wallets so I doubt a screen would do better.

  11. Watching to peep a replacement for my Z Flip 5. Samsung let me upgrade from ZF3 and ZF4 for a hundred bucks, but now they want $400 for a ZF6, which is a no. I’ve had this phone for a year and the crease is beginning to show fatigue cracks, so it will need replacement. Think I’m going to skip another folding phone.

  12. I don’t think these will become popular. They cost close to 2k dollars and that’s way beyond what most people are willing to spend on a phone. Remember when iPhone released a phone that cost $1000 and everyone was mad about it.

  13. M getting a feeling that android is way way ahead of iPhones. Not sure about security though but man this is impressive! I have not used android since 7-8 years but might use as my next phone

  14. Dear Marques Am gonna get this for 89999 tomorrow in India sales . Thank u for honest review. If u gave the positive review then this will nail it. Thank uuuu. Hoping i dont get those green lines ???

  15. just dont take it to the beach, or any job that is not a desk job. they either need to make a 100% sealed hinge or some way be able to clean out the hinge

  16. Cuando cierras la pantalla, se sigue viendo el contenido en la pantalla externa sin necesidad de deslizar el dedo, se puede definir que sea automático

  17. 6:40 it adds a fairly significant cost seeing as though its basically just a bunch of copper but knowing OP, its more than likely just too slow of charging for them to consider acceptable

  18. It’s strange that an American reviewer would advocate a chinese phone, when the power house Chinese phones made by Xiaomi are banned in the US. Perhaps one plus sounds more non Chinese. Strange times, when the head CEO of Ford drives a Xiaomi car and in fact says that it’s ahead of it’s western competition. Strange new world

  19. Me in 2024 buying used Iph XS for $250, is already good enough for anything I need..
Dont see $1000+ in my future at anytime.. 😅

  20. I need you to come back to this and all the other folds for a comparison video cuz I’m switching to one of these cuz I’m tired of Apple
